Course

The 112 km competitive long route is mostly flat and fast—but the wind will likely challenge you. The pre-race expo, start, finish, and post-race festivities all take place at the historic Tabakquartier. From there, the opening 4 km of the race are “neutralized,” meaning the peloton follows a lead vehicle at a controlled pace. Once you reach the airport area, the race is on.

From km 4 to 18, the course winds through small roads with numerous turns. This section will stretch the field early and lets you take full advantage of the closed roads. After passing under the A1 Autobahn, you enter the main loop, which you’ll complete twice. Open fields and traditional farmsteads alternate with sections through forest. While there are no major climbs, frequent false flats will test you. A 500 m stretch of cobbles along a historic farm-turned-restaurant adds a classic touch.

After the second loop, you return via the same roads as the outbound section. The race’s timing finish is at km 106, where a long straight offers ideal conditions for a sprint. “Timing finish” means this is where your official race time stops. The final 6 km, leading back to the celebratory finish at the Tabakquartier, are neutralized and ridden at a casual pace to ensure safety. Use this section as a cool-down along the scenic Ochtum River, enjoying the moment with fellow riders. Be sure to cross the final finish line at Tabakquartier—only then is your race considered complete and you will be listed as a finisher. That’s where you’ll receive your GFNY finisher medal, post-race meal, and where the awards ceremony takes place.

The non-competitive medium route follows the same course but includes only one loop. Riders on this route also receive timing, a finisher medal, and the post-race meal. However, there are no awards in this category, and results will be listed alphabetically rather than by finish time.

Long Course

LONG COURSE IS A COMPETITION: Only the finishers of the long course are eligible for category rankings and Overall and Podium awards. If you want to race and be ranked in your category, you must complete the long course. Top 20% of finishers in each age group earn a spot in the Qualifier Corral at every GFNY World event.

Medium Course

MEDIUM COURSE IS NOT A COMPETITION: The riders of the medium course will be provided their start-to-finish time, but will not be ranked by finish time. All finish times will be listed in alphabetical order.
