The 100 km long route is mostly flat and fast—but the wind will challenge you. The pre-race expo, start, finish, and post-race festivities all take place at the historic Tabakquartier. From there, the opening 4 km of the race are neutralized, meaning the peloton follows the lead vehicle at a controlled pace. Once you reach the airport area, the race is on.
At km 16 you will enter the main loop, which you will complete twice. Race past vast farmlands, traditional farmsteads and forest on a flat and fast course. Frequent false flats will test you and sort groups. A 500m stretch of cobbles along a historic farm-turned-restaurant adds a classic touch to your GFNY Bremen race experience.
When riding back to the finish, you ride via the same roads as you took to the loop. The race’s timing finish is at km 96, where a long straight offers ideal conditions for a sprint. The timing finish line means this is where your official race time stops. The final kilometers that lead back to the celebratory finish at the Tabakquartier are neutralized and ridden at a casual pace to ensure safety. Use this section as a cool down along the scenic Ochtum River, enjoying the moment with fellow riders. Be sure to cross the final finish line at the Tabakquartier — only then is your race considered complete and you will be listed as a finisher. That’s where you’ll receive your GFNY finisher medal and post-race meal, and where the awards ceremony takes place.
